<p>The rise of smart homes in recent years has been nothing short of spectacular. In a world where AI is reshaping entire industries, it&#8217;s only natural that home automation is keeping pace.</p>



<p>Now, while some folks may still be on the fence about embracing this tech-savvy lifestyle, those who&#8217;ve already taken the plunge can attest to the unmatched convenience it brings.</p>



<p>One of the prominent and most sought-after features of a smart home is the ability to create scenes.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What are smart home scenes?</strong></h2>



<p>A ‘Scene’ helps you control several smart home devices at once for convenience. For example, when the sun goes down, you can make your garden and some outside lights turn ON with just one tap. This means you don&#8217;t have to go outside in the hot, sticky weather to switch ON the lights – it&#8217;s all done easily. You can also set up a scene to turn OFF these lights when you go to bed. So, no more stumbling around in the dark to turn off lights; you can stay comfy in bed and do it with a click.</p>



<p>The possibilities are truly endless, and with MTronic, there are several ways you can make the scenes and even have them play automatically! (More on this later)</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>The Bedtime Scene</strong></h2>



<p>Before we dive in, let&#8217;s begin by describing the smart scene we&#8217;re about to create. It&#8217;s one of our absolute favourites – the Bedtime scene.</p>



<p>Imagine you&#8217;ve had a long, exhausting day, and you walk into your room. It&#8217;s softly lit, the AC is already cooling the room to perfection, and the fan is gently whirring at speed 3, creating a soothing breeze that reaches every corner. Won’t that instantly relax you? It&#8217;s as if the stress of the busy day just melts away. And the best part? You can have all of this with a simple tap.</p>



<p>All you need to do is activate the scene about 10 minutes before you enter your room – perhaps while you&#8217;re finishing up dinner or putting the kids to bed. That&#8217;s it. Your cosy haven will be ready and waiting for you before you even step inside.</p>



<p>Let’s get cracking and create this scene, shall we?</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Your smart home &#8211; online</strong></h2>



<p>To start, you need to know where to access your home controls digitally. You have two options: the MTronic app or your web browser. Both are easily accessible and very user-friendly, so you won&#8217;t have any navigation problems.</p>

<p>Go to the MTronic <a href="/">website</a>. In the top right corner, you&#8217;ll find &#8216;<a href="https://portal.mtronic.pk/">My Portal</a>.&#8217; Just click on it to proceed.<a id="_msocom_1"></a></p>

<p>Once you&#8217;ve entered your username and password, the MTronic portal will take you to your home’s overview.</p>

<p>The overview displays a list of all your MTronic smart devices in your home. It provides real-time status updates, indicating whether each device is currently turned ON or OFF. It will also give you quick access to any scenes and automations already made.</p>

<p>In the upper right corner, right next to your profile picture, you&#8217;ll spot a small &#8216;plus&#8217; icon. Give it a click, and a menu will appear. From there, you can choose &#8216;Room,&#8217; &#8216;Scene,&#8217; or &#8216;Automation.&#8217; Click on &#8216;Scene,&#8217; and it will lead you to the page where you can create a new scene.</p>

<p>You can personalise the scene by giving it a name, such as &#8216;Bedtime,&#8217; or explore suggestions from the list below. You can even select a cool icon that matches the scene.</p>

<p>Now, choose the smart home devices that should be in a specific state when you activate the scene. In our case, we want your room’s lights to be switched OFF, the fan to be on speed 3 and the AC to be switched ON, etc. So, go ahead and select them.</p>

<p>Now select the state of each device. </p>



<p>Just as a reminder, here&#8217;s a quick guide: white for OFF, blue for ON. Grey is to keep the current state, in simple terms, if a light is already ON, it will stay ON; if it&#8217;s OFF, it will stay OFF without changes.</p>



<p>To turn OFF the bathroom lights, simply double-click until the light turns white, and then click &#8216;Save.</p>

<p>For the bedroom lights, we’ll switch OFF one light and leave the other light ON, so there is a soft glow in the corner of the room. Then click on ‘Save.’</p>

<p>We’ll also power ON the AC.</p>

<p>And set the fan speed to 3.</p>

<p>Now that all the devices’ states are set, go ahead and click on ‘Next.’</p>

<p>And there you have it! The scene has been successfully created. Just wait a moment. The pending sign indicates that all your MTronic devices are synchronising with MHub.</p>

<p>Now, simply click on &#8216;Bedtime&#8217; about 10 minutes before you head to your room and it will be dimly lit, cool and inviting – a perfect setting for you to unwind and relax!</p>

<p>Plus, you can also automate your smart home scenes. Instead of manually telling Alexa or using the MTronic app, set them to activate at specific times on their own. For instance, if you typically head to your room at 10 pm during the workweek, you can schedule the Bedtime scene to start at 9:50 pm, Monday through Friday. That way, when you go to wind down, the room will be ready for you – always. For instance, when you leave for work, a single scene can ensure all the lights and appliances switch OFF, with just a tap. No more fumbling with switches; the MTronic app has it all under control!</p>



<p>To make the most out of your smart home technology, you can create unique scenes that fit your routine, preferences, and lifestyle. From a refreshing morning scene to a cosy evening setting, the sky’s the limit.</p>



<p>Before we start making the scene, let’s first create a scenario to build our scene around. This way, we can personalise the scene to fit your needs perfectly. Let’s say you wake up at 7:30 AM every morning. To ease you into your day, we’ll ensure your electric geyser is already ON, the fan slows down and the lights are switched ON around 7:00 AM. This way, you start your day by naturally waking up slowly, rather than the abrupt jolt of an alarm.</p>

<p>First things first – let’s figure out how to access your MTronic smart home digitally. You have two options:</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="how-to-create-a-smart-scene"><strong>How to Create a Smart Scene</strong></h2>



<p>Log in to your MTronic app. The overview will display a list of MTronic devices you have, their status, and any scenes and automations you’ve created.</p>

<p>Tap on the plus icon at the top right and select &#8216;Scene&#8217; from the given options. This will take you to a new screen where you can begin building your custom scene.</p>

<p>Choose a name for your scene. In our example, we’ll call it ‘Good Morning.’ Then click on ‘Next’.</p>

<p>Next, select the devices you want to include in the scene. For our example, we want the Master Bedroom lights and fan to be in a specific state, along with the electric geyser. Once you&#8217;ve selected, click &#8216;Next&#8217; to continue.</p>

<p>Now, set the desired state for each device individually. In our case, we want the lights and geyser to be ON and the fan to slow down to speed 2.</p>

<p>After all the smart home devices are set, click on ‘Save’ and ta-da! Your scene is created – easy as pie.</p>

<p>You will see a ‘pending’ sign on your scene – don’t worry! The devices are just syncing up. In less than a minute, your scene will be ready to go!</p>

<p>So, what does this mean? You can simply tap the &#8216;Good Morning’ scene in your app or activate it via Amazon Alexa/Google Assistant to have your Master Bedroom’s lights and geyser switched ON and the fan adjusted to speed 2.</p>

<p>While that&#8217;s pretty handy, we can take it up a notch. In our scenario, we want this scene to automatically activate every morning at 7:00 AM. This is where &#8216;automation&#8217; comes into play.</p>



<p>But what does automation mean in a smart home? Automation is a fantastic way for scenes to unfold all by themselves. With MTronic, you can create an automation based on motion, detected by our&nbsp;<a href="/products/motion-and-light-sensor">Motion &amp; Light Sensors</a>&nbsp;or, as in our example, based on time, where scenes kick in at a specific time or during a certain time slot. So, let’s make the automation, shall we?</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="how-to-automate-your-scenes"><strong>How to Automate Your Scenes</strong></h2>



<p>On your MTronic app screen, tap on ‘Automation’ at the bottom right.</p>



<p>Tap &#8216;Add&#8217; in the top right corner and choose &#8216;Schedule.&#8217; This will help you set up the automation based on your desired timing.</p>

<p>Tap on ‘Specific Time’ and set the ‘Start Time’ as 7:00 AM. Make sure you select the days you want the automation to repeat, like Monday through Friday in our case. Then click ‘Next.’</p>

<p>Once you&#8217;ve set the desired time and day, select the scene you want to activate at that specific moment. For our example, we&#8217;re picking &#8216;Good Morning.&#8217;</p>

<p>Our survival is very closely linked to the planet&#8217;s health, and it feels like nature is hanging by a thread. You must have noticed the weather getting more erratic lately. Extreme heat, intense cold spells, unexpected floods&#8230; it’s not mere imagination but a grim reality we all share. The planet’s temperature is rising fast, threatening life as we know it.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p>Scientists say that even a moderate&nbsp;<a href="https://www.c40.org/what-we-do/scaling-up-climate-action/adaptation-water/the-future-we-dont-want/sea-level-rise/#:~:text=By%202050%2C%20800%20million%20people,risk%20and%20wreak%20economic%20havoc." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">1-2°C increase could drown coastal cities</a>&nbsp;as the polar ice caps melt. And you can bet that this is just the start. Rising heat would also release the vast reserves of methane, a powerful greenhouse gas, buried under the ocean floor. This, in turn, will speed up global warming, leading to a further increase in ocean levels &#8211; a vicious cycle stuck on repeat. &nbsp;</p>



<p>The time to act is now. Even a small fraction of an increase in temperature matters. As businesses and individuals, we must work rapidly towards “net-zero”- eliminating as many emissions as we produce.</p>



<p>We know it may seem daunting, but making a difference doesn&#8217;t have to be complicated. Small steps, starting right where we live and work, can lead to significant changes.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="introducing-smart-buildings-nbsp"><strong>Introducing Smart Buildings  &nbsp;</strong></h2>



<p>Buildings produce almost 1/3 of global emissions. Building materials, such as cement, bricks, etc., account for around 9% of emissions, which we refer to as direct emissions. While a whopping 18% is from the electricity and heat used to&nbsp;operate these buildings, known as indirect emissions.&nbsp;Although direct emissions are declining, indirect ones keep going up. This is where we come in.&nbsp;</p>
